A house in Brooklyn is about to get a new look, thanks to a team of builders.
It’s the first time in the city’s history that the project is being done with help from a private foundation, The New York Times reported.
The building, which is part of the home’s main family, is scheduled to go up for sale in the next two weeks.
The new project, called the “new Brooklyn house,” is part-funded by the American Red Cross and will feature new furnishings, flooring, appliances and more.
The foundation is funded through a $2.8 million grant from the Red Cross.
The house will be the first of its kind in New York City, The Times reported, adding that it’s the “first of a planned wave of homes designed by a New York-based foundation to improve the lives of New Yorkers.”
“It will be a great gift to our city and a great benefit for our city’s future,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement.
“It’s going to be a huge project.”
In a separate development, the New York State Assembly is set to vote on a bill that would require the city to install sprinklers and other emergency equipment in homes with more than 20 units.
A new building for the new borough of Queens is scheduled for completion in the coming weeks.
In April, the Brooklyn Borough Council approved a proposal that would have required the city and state to buy new homes and apartments for every new home built.
